KAMAZ-master Team Continues Winning Streak at Dakar Rally 2014 Supported By WABCO’s High-Performance Safety Technologies

BRUSSELS, Belgium – January 30, 2014 – WABCO, a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that it has supplied a number of advanced, high-performance safety technologies to the 2014 Dakar winning truck racing team, KAMAZ-master.

The Russian national off-road truck rally team continued its impressive, more than decade-long winning streak at Dakar by winning the 2014 championship

The victory marks an unprecedented twelfth time that KAMAZ-master’s rally trucks, equipped with WABCO technology, won the world’s most challenging endurance rally.

The KAMAZ-master’s heavy-duty racing trucks took first, third, fourth and fifth place at Dakar 2014, a competition that saw 70 trucks representing twelve different branded competitors.


WABCO has been supplying KAMAZ-master with pioneering technologies since 1997. For Dakar 2014, the company provided KAMAZ-master Team’s heavy duty trucks with high-performance air compressors, advanced braking system controls and WABCO TRISTOP™ Cylinders, one of the industry’s most reliable piston-type spring brake cylinders.

Dakar 2014 concluded on Sunday, January 18 in Valparaiso, Chile. It was the rally’s sixth consecutive year to be held in South America. The route covered 9,188 kilometers (5,709 miles) in thirteen stages through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile crossing the Andes Mountains and racing the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt lake before venturing in the Atacama Desert, commonly known as the driest place on Earth.
